Luisa's story

Luisa is a 29-year-old mother of 3 children whom she and her husband provide for. They are her reason for living. She lives in the city of Pucallpa, which is in the Peruvian jungle where there is a large variety, and more importantly, beautiful, flora and fauna As all good Peruvians, she enjoys typical Peruvian food and one of her favorite dishes is “Ahumado de Pescado” (smoked fish). Her parents didn’t have the recourses for schooling and so she has a grade 6 education. She would have liked to study dressmaking

Luisa works hard at her grocery business in the daytime for about 6 hours a day and can attend up to 30 clients. She believes her business does well because she is very nice to her clients.

Luisa is very grateful to the Kiva lenders. Thanks to their help, she will be able to buy more merchandise for her business, like rice, sugar and vegetable soups, among other things; that way she’ll have a larger variety of products, she’ll improve her income and she can continue working to achieve her biggest dream: to have a bigger business and improve the quality of life of her family.
