A loan of $925 helped to buy a brush cutter and coffee plants.

Casimiro's story

Casimiro, 48, has been growing coffee with his wife, Victoria, since 1991. They have four children who also help carry out this activity and during the times when there is even more work to be done they hire people in order to be able to bring in the entire harvest which is currently 12 tons yearly. He produces both conventional and organic coffee. However, he’d like it if the entire production were organic because it has a higher market value.

Casimiro needs a loan to buy a weeder to be able to clear his fields and to buy coffee plants to plant thus increasing production and quality. He’d also like to buy a pick-up truck so that transporting his coffee to the “Unión Regional de Huatusco” [coffee cooperative] which is where he delivers his entire harvest would be easier. He hopes that all his children will have the opportunity of studying a university career so that they will have a better standard of living in the future.
