Julio's story

Julio lives in Huatusco. He’s 60 years old and lives with his wife, a daughter and a grandson. He studied up to second grade in elementary school. At the age of 12 he learned the occupation of coffee having been taught by his father. He’s currently a conventional coffee grower and his only source of work and support is growing coffee. His goal is to increase production and to renew his farm so is asking for a loan to buy manure and plants and to pay people who will help him improve it. He comments also that in the future he’d like to be a sugarcane producer. With the improvements done and with profits they generate he wants to help his grandson complete a university education and to be able to remodel his house.
