A loan of $575 helped to pay the downpayment on his own motorcycle.

Luis Alberto's story

Luis, 21, is a very enthusiastic, hardworking young man. He lives in La Tinguiña District in Ica, Perú. This district is noted for its agriculture, especially cotton growing, as well as the charisma and kindness of its inhabitants. Like all good Peruvians he enjoys our country’s typical food very much; one of his favorite dishes is the very delicious “Arroz con Pollo.” When he has free time he likes to play soccer with his friends and neighbors in the neighborhood very much. He studied up to fifth grade of secondary school but would have like to have studied Mechanical Engineering.

Day to day Luis goes out to work as a driver. He spends about 8 hours daily and may take care of up to 40 customers per day. He believes that he does well in his business because he’s very kind to his customers and because there are many customers since the school term is now is in session.

Luis is very grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks to the help they’ve given him he will be able to make the down payment to buy his own mototaxi since the one he currently drives is leased. With this improvement his income will increase and he will be able to have a vehicle of his own to continue striving every day to reach his greatest dream: “To have a house of his own, a house and to form a family.”
