A loan of $400 helped to buy nutritionally balanced animal feed and to repair her corral.

Celina's story

Celina is an enthusiastic but above all brave woman. She’s the mother of a little two year old boy who she raises by herself since she’s a single mother and since he was born she became both mother and father for her son; she works with much effort to see her son become an upstanding citizen and above all to be happy.

Her house is located in the city of Camana, a city noted for having beautiful beaches, hot climate, for its agriculture especially rice growing, and also for its fishing and above all for its delicious shrimp. Like all good Peruvian women she enjoys food very much and her favorite dish is the very delicious “Pollo al Vino.” When she has free time she likes to watch movies to entertain herself a little.

With much effort and dedication, Celina works raising pigs to sell. She works about 12 hours daily and can tend to up to 10 customers per day especially during feast days because customers consume more pork on those occasions. She believes that she does well in her business because she’s very hardworking and because she treats her customers very kindly.

Celina is very grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks to the support they have given her she will be able to buy nutritionally balanced pig feed as well as to make some improvements to the corral where she keeps the pigs. With this improvement she will be able to continue to provide good nutrition to the animals and raise them in an appropriate space so that customers will be more inclined to buy her products so that Celina can continue striving day to day to reach her greatest dream: “To give her son a good education and a happy life.”
