Walter Mauricio's story

Walter is a very hardworking man who at the age of 40 has the joy of a twenty-year-old. He’s a father and together with his wife loves his two children who are 16 and 8 years old. He works sunrise to sunrise in order to move them forward and to see them happy with a good quality of life. His house is located in Parcona District in Ica, Perú. Parcona District is noted for the kindness of its inhabitants but also for the Stone Forest which is a collection of hills in the shape of animals and persons, among others. Like all good Peruvians he enjoys our country’s typical food very much and his favorite dish is the very delicious “sopa seca.” Due to his parents’ scarce resources, Walter was only able to finish fifth year of secondary school but he would have liked to have studied Law. Walter works day to day in his business as a master builder. He works about 8 hours per day and can take care of up to two customers per day according to the type and size of the construction job he does. He believes that he does well in his business because he does good work and is very responsible with his customers. Walter is very grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks to the support they’ve provided him he will be able to do some improvements to his house and buy his children’s school supplies. With this improvement he will be able to provide a better home for his family and his children will have the necessary supplies to go to school and he will be able to continue striving day to day to make his greatest dream a reality: “To have a house of his own.”
