A loan of $3,700 helped a member to increase the stock in the Genge-Duka and to build a room for cooking food.

Becham Group's story

Elizabeth, who is in her early 50s, is married with two children who are still going to school. She has been running a "Genge-Duka" (a retail shop providing fruits and vegetables in the same shop) and supplying food in two different bars for 10 years now. She works from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily and is able to make a good monthly profit.

This will be her 4th loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loans to build a foundation for the house she is about to start building, bought the missing items in the Genge-Duka, bought a big cooking stove for cooking food, and paid for household expenses. She has paid back the loans successfully. She wants a loan to increase the stock in the Genge-Duka and to build a room for cooking food. Her dream is to one day be able to sell drinks and clothes.

She will share this loan with her loan group "Becham" which has a total of 15 members who will hold each other accountable for paying back their loans.

In this group: Elizabeth, James, Roda, Mariam*, Christian, Helmelgilda, Albina, Veronica, Christowelu*, Bonifafe, Kachiki, Fausta, Shadiya, Beatrice, Christipher
