A loan of $475 helped to fulfill the tasks needed to increase production including weeding and pruning.

Eduardo's story

Eduardo, 71, lives in his own house. He studied up to second grade in elementary school. When his father died when he was only nine years old, his paternal grandfather taught him everything related to growing coffee. As time went by and with his desire to make progress as a grower he acquired a few parcels and the other ones were inherited from his grandfather. He’s been a coffee grower for years and knows that in order for its production to increase he needs to reforest, fertilize and provide maintenance to his parcel by weeding it and pruning. This is what he needs a loan for, to do the cultural tasks needed to increase production of his parcel.

Eduardo has another occupation besides coffee production. He also learned to butcher which produces some extra income besides what he earns from the coffee. For him, it’s very important to develop as a producer and to increase his harvests because everything he does now will be his children’s and his grandchildren’s inheritance and his greatest dream is to be able to buy more land and to build a bigger house.
