A loan of $450 helped to purchase weed-killers to grow bananas.

Matauaina's story

Matauaina is 25 and married with one child. She plants and harvests bananas for sale. She has two years of experience in this business. Matauaina needs a loan of WST $1,000 to purchase weed-killers such as Gramoxome. She plans to use the profit from her business (estimated to be 400 talas per week) to continue improving her plantation. In 2010, Matauaina joined SPBD to gain access to financial services. Most of SPBD's clients are unable to borrow from commercial banks, because they lack collateral. This is Matauaina's second loan with SPBD.
