A loan of $500 helped to purchase rice, oil, bananas, cabbage, and sugar.

Soila Marina's story

Soila is 35 years old and is from Somoto, Municipality of Estelí. She is a merchant by trade and sells food. She started this business three ago with her own income that she had earned previously while working in a factory. She pulled her earnings together to set up her food sales business which is located in the department of Estelí. She doesn’t have other income since she supports herself only by what she takes from the food sales. She feels very satisfied because she has a good clientele at her location and sells enough. With her business, she has been able to get her family ahead in life. She is requesting the loan to purchase rice, oil, bananas, cabbage, sugar, and all that she needs to prepare her meals. She considers that the loan will help her because she will invest in the business to obtain more profits. As far as her future plans are concerned, she hopes to grow her business in order to provide for her family’s welfare and to have her own home.
