Joie Plus Group's story

JP, age 46, is the chairman of the community bank named "Joie Plus", which consists of 15 members united in solidarity to receive loans from Kiva through the microfinance institution, HOPE DRC, with the goal of developing their businesses.

JP has been in the microenterprise world since 2001. He has been selling drinks. His drink facility is located west of the city of Kinshasa. He is a loyal client of HOPE DRC, who has already received nine different loans and has repaid them properly. He intends to use the next loan to diversify his business by buying some juice drinks with the aim of increasing his profits. Each week, his business brings in a profit of $60. His ambition is to open a larger drink facility in his area. JP is married and the father of four children aged between 4 and 15 years old. Three of them attend school.
