Saint Laurent Plus Group's story

Mawete is 53 years old and a widow with nine children. For the past 12 years, she has sold fruit in her local area located in the eastern part of Kinshasa. Mawete is the chairwoman of a community bank named "Mawete Plus," that is comprised of 16 members firmly united to receive loans from the micro-finance institution HOPE RDC in order to develop their individual businesses. She has previously borrowed and repaid a loan from HOPE DRC to expand her business. Mawete’s business generates 35 USD weekly in profits and one of her strategies is to keep close relationships with her clients.

Mawete is requesting a loan to buy two sacks of fruit to resell at a profit. She will be able to meet customer demand and generate additional profits. Her ambition is to become a fruit provider.
