A loan helped to buy new clothing and a variety of trinkets.

Maria Suyapa's story

Maria is 36 years old, single, and lives with her brother and nephew in the town of Esparta, Atlántida. She is a hardworking woman. Four years ago, she established a general retail shop where she sells clothing, handbags, sandals, and trinkets. Her business operates out of her home, which is equipped to function as the storefront for selling her merchandise. Maria says that she is doing very well and is able to generate good profits. Through good management and the help of the loans she obtained from ODEF, she has been able to use her earnings to expand her inventory. Two years ago, she opened another business -- a grocery store. Now that she manages two businesses, Maria is able to offer a variety of products including food items.

She is requesting her fourth loan in the amount of 20,000 HNL so that she can restock her business with clothing and the latest trinkets. In order for her income to grow and generate more profits, she needs to reinvest in her business. Her goal is to expand her business even more so that her revenue will improve.
