Maria Gladys's story

María Gladys is 20 years old and single. She lives with her parents in Chillanes canton, Bolívar province. She belongs to the communal bank Balacelo, which is made up of ten members. María Gladys makes a living in agriculture, farming corn and beans.

She is requesting a loan to buy the necessary supplies for her plants, like two quintals of manure, one quintal of urea, and liquids to fumigate. With the help from this loan she will be able to increase her crops and have better harvests which will give her a better income. She frequently does her buying and selling of products in Chillanes canton every 15 days.

Her dream is to continue studying and giver her parent a better style and quality of life. She also wants to have good crops so that she can have good harvests, which would greatly improve her income. The challenge she faces is the fear of losing her crops due to bad weather.

In her free time she likes to read, listen to music and the carnaval.
