Nan, 54, is married and resides with her husband and four children in Kampot Province, Cambodia. She has been involved in growing rice and fattening up cattle for more than twenty years, earning approximately 5 USD per day. Her husband helps her run the business. Three of her children are employed in a garment factory. They earn about 8 USD per day.
Nan wants to run an additional business in order to improve her family’s economy. With this goal in mind, Nan is requesting a loan of 1,000 USD to purchase a motorbike for her husband to run a motor taxi service. This purchase would enable him to earn extra income to support the family. In the future, she would like to expand her business and help her children get bachelor’s degrees. Moreover, she hopes to rebuild her present house to make it bigger and more comfortable for her family’s living condition.
