Sophal's story

Sophal, 47, resides with her husband and two children in Kandal Province, Cambodia. She has been involved in agricultural business for over twenty years, has extensive experience, and is successful in her career. She is involved in growing rice, vegetables and fattening up cattle. She earns approximately $3 per day. Her husband is a construction worker who earns about $5 per day. One of her children is a garment worker who earns about $3 per day. In order to improve her family's livelihood, Sophal is requesting a loan of $700 to purchase piglets to breed in order to resell when they gain weight. By doing so, she would earn extra income to support the family. In the future, she would like to expand her business and rebuild her house.
