Lasso El Vergel Group

A loan of $1,600 helped a member to buy young pigs to raise and later for reproduction and sale.

Lasso El Vergel Group's story

The solidarity group Lasso El Vergel is formed by four people that have the same purpose, which is to triumph in life and get their families ahead. In this group the president is Gladys because she is a responsible, hard-working person with big aspirations in life. Gladys is widowed and lives alone with her two children in the city of Latacunga in the province of Latacunga.

Gladys works alone in the rearing and sale of pigs. This business is the only source of economic income that her family has and with this she has to maintain all of her home expenses, like food, schooling of her children, etc. It is the first loan that she is carrying out with Fodemi, which will be used to buy feed for the pigs, and to buy young pigs to rear and later reproduce and sell, which will help to improve her income and her quality of life.

In the photo Gladys is the woman with the purple sack.
