A loan of $4,225 helped a member to buy more sodas, juice, water and a sack of Irish potatoes for chips.

Machimbo Group's story

Andrew, who is in his early 30s, is a widower with two children who are still going to school. He has been selling water, sodas, juice and chips for four years now. He works from 10.00 am to 11.00 pm daily and is able to make a fair monthly profit.

This will be his 5th loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. He used the previous loans to build a second room, fill in the missing items in his kiosk, and cover household expenses and has paid back all his loans successfully. He wants a loan to buy more sodas, juice, and water to resell and a sack of Irish potatoes for making chips. His dream is to one day be able to build a third room.

He will share this loan with his loan group "Machimbo" which has a total of 16 members who will hold each other accountable for paying back their loans.

In this group: Andrew, Fredy, Asha, Febronia, Mariam, Rehema, Marino, Emanuel, Jofrey, Frank, Mwajuma, Kobelo, Selina, Protas, Perpetua, Kirsan
