A loan of $775 helped to buy a freezer and glass cabinets.

Yeny Marita's story

Yeny is a very determined mother, with great strength and a willingness to sacrifice to help her four children, ages 5, 8,13, and 17, get a good start in life because she loves them and they are her greatest treasure. Her home is located in the city of Ica, a city known for its warm climate throughout the year, and because it's where the Huacachina lake is located, which attracts numerous tourists at every time of year, and also it's famous for its agriculture, especially the production of cotton, asparagus, and grapes.

When Yeny has free time, she likes to sing and she does so with her children, and they also like to enjoy one of their favorite foods, which is the delicious "Arroz con Pollo" (Chicken and Rice). Because of her parents' poverty, she only studied through the third year of her degree program in obstetrics, but she would have really liked to finish her degree.

Every day, Yeny works at her business selling groceries, she dedicates around 10 hours a day and helps as many as fifty customers a day. She believes that things are going well in her business because she has a good variety of products that she offers and good customer service.

Yeny is very thankful for the lenders at Kiva who have helped her to buy a freezer and glass cabinetry for her shop. She will be better able to keep her products fresh and have a better organized and cleaner shop, so her clients will feel more confident about buying her products. This will improve her margins and she continues struggling each day to make her dream a reality, "to have a larger store."
