Jose Mario's story

José is a very hardworking man; he’s 61 years old but has the optimism and joy of a 20 year old. He lives with his wife and three children two of which are twin girls. He loves his children very much; they are his greatest treasure and his reason to live. His house is located in the city of Nazca, a city noted for the Nazca Lines which are huge drawings in the middle of an arid field that served as a calendar of the rains for the Nazca culture centuries ago. It also has a hot climate but above all is characterized by the generosity of its people. When he has free time he likes composing songs and also likes to enjoy one of his favorite dishes, the very delicious “Escabeche.”

Day to day, José works in his business selling tools for demolition equipment. He works about 8 hours daily and can tend to up to 10 customers per day. He believes that he does well in his business because he’s charismatic and above all responsible with his customers.

José is very grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks to the support they’ve given him he will be able to buy more tools for his business like drill bits, conical bars and augers which will allow him to have more variety of products and improve his income to continue working toward attaining his greatest dream: “To have a very large hardware store.”
