Marapat is 53 years old, married and raised two children. To provide a source of income for her family, she became involved in animal husbandry and farming in 1980. The business, started with a purchase of one cow, today yields about 8,000 som (KGS) per month from sales of milk and milk products. At the present time, the family business contains two cows, one bull, one calf and eleven sheep. In order to further develop her business, Marapat requested a loan in the amount of 40,000 som (KGS) from the "Bai-Tushum and Partners" company to buy additional heads of livestock and barley seeds. She plans to invest the earnings into expanding her business by purchasing purebred sheep.
