Merlinda's story

This is Merlinda, 47, resident of Bacoor, Cavite, Philippines. She is married to Joefil, a driver, and is a mother of her child. She, together with her husband, manages their own household while operating a business. At this time, she is working hard to continually provide income for their everyday expenses and her child’s studies.

Merlinda operates a market stall. She sells vegetables and other cooking items in the community market. She buys quantities of vegetable products and other common items used in cooking and sells them per kilo or per piece. Her regular customers are her neighbors and people in the local community. She earns a minimum of PHP 500 in sales every day.

To help her continue the operations of her business, Merlinda is requesting a PHP 18,000 loan. She will be utilizing the loan to buy more quantities of vegetable products and condiment items to expand her product inventory. She expects a boost in her business income as she expands her business.

Merlinda dreams to be able to give her family a good future through all her hard work on her business. She faithfully meets up with her co-fellowship members to share stories of her work every week and where she can also draw strength and inspiration from the Word of God she studies.

* All CCT community partners / clients are organized into fellowship groups that meet on a weekly basis. A fellowship group is composed of 15 to 30 community partners. The fellowship groups gather each week to study the Word of God, build social capital, and pay Micro Finance loans.
