A loan of $775 helped to buy rice, sugar, noodles and canned tuna.

Gloria Teresa's story

Gloria is 54 years old but thanks to her enthusiasm she feels like a 20-years-old girl. She lives with her husband, who is a fisherman. Their house is located in Pisco, a town renowned for the Ballestas Islands and the Paracas Candelabrum, two tourist attractions that many people visit in order to enjoy their beauty and splendor. The town is also renowned for the kindness of its inhabitants and for its main economic activities, fishing and agriculture. Gloria is a very hardworking woman: seeing that things weren’t going very well for her husband’s job, she succeeded in opening her general store two years ago, thanks to her resolve and above all to her savings. In these past 2 years she has put all of her willpower in going ahead, and she believes her activity is going well because of her gentleness in dealing with her customers. Gloria is deeply grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks to their help she will be able to buy products for her shop such as rice, sugar, noodles and canned tuna, among other items, with which she will have a wider variety of products, thus succeeding in improving her earnings. She will then be able to keep on fighting day by day to make her biggest dream come true: “to obtain a better standard of living and to always support her husband.”
