Las Magníficas Group's story

The A.C. "Las Magníficas" (Community Association: "The Magnificents") begins its first loan cycle with Pro Mujer, as a part of the regional center Villa Adela, and is made up of seven members directed by a board, on which María Eugenia is the secretary. The businesses of the members of the community association are varied and among these we have: chicken raising, quinoa processing, wool dyeing and making baits for traditional remedies, small-scale coca sales, sportswear sewing services, sales of beer and food, blanket weaving and macrame. María Eugenía says that this is the first time she has joined a community group with Pro Mujer; she joined at the request of a cousin. She currently has a business in sewing sportswear, which she has worked at for years, learning from a former job. The loan that she will receive is for a change in businesses (to buy coca), which she will buy from the market in La Paz and afterward will sell in the highland markets each afternoon. These sales will help her to support her family, as she is a widow and has eight children. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she responded that she likes the health center. In the photo, you can also see a woman in a yellow top with the group, she is the daughter of Ms. Porfiria.
