Leonora is from the village of Sebasi, Clarin, Misamis Occidental. She is 40 years old, separated from her spouse and has a child. To make a living, Leonora has had a general store for eight years and earns 8,000 Philippines pesos (PHP) a month.
In 2008, Leonora joined GDMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. She is requesting a new loan of 25,000 PHP to purchase new items to expand her product offering. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve and expand her business.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
