A loan of $1,650 helped buy food.

Matilde De Los Dolores's story

The Colon Community Bank meets every other week in Colon, in the city of Portoviejo, the capital of Manabita known as the City of the Valley because it is surrounded by a lot of hills. Mrs. Matilde lives here. She is 63 years old and has been a widow for many years. She has 6 children who are grown. One of them lives with her because he is handicapped.

She earns a living and provides for her family with a business in her house she has had for many years. Here she sells carne asada, cueritos, and other snacks along with fried plantains-a favorite of her customers. She also sells sodas, natural juices and bottled juices. At night she sells snacks. Her specialty is rice with mixed vegetables and carne asada. She works from Thursday to Sunday from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Her business is very popular because of the unique spices she adds to her dishes.

This loan is to buy ingredients for preparing food. She has been in the community bank for 3 years and she likes the help she receives from the loans. Her dream is to have a great restaurant.
