The communal bank came about thanks to the promoting done in the member’s neighborhood. They were pleased with the program and decided to join together so that they could work together and help each other out.

Irene is the president of the group. She and her family have a small business, which is selling and raising pigs. She explains that it is thanks to this work that her family has been able to get ahead and help each other. Her goal is to continue growing so that her family can have what it needs day to day.

She is requesting the loan to buy commercial feed for her pigs because she doesn’t want them to lack for food. She is grateful to the Foundation and to Kiva for the help she is receiving.

El comité surge gracias a las promociones hechas en lo zona a las miembros, quienes quedaron encantadas con el programa y decidieron unirse, para que de esa forma puedan trabajar juntas y ayudarse las unas a las otras.
La sra. Irene, es la presidenta del grupo. Ella junto con su familia tienen una mini microempresa que es la venta y cría de chanchos. Comenta que gracias a este trabajo su familia ha podido salir adelante y ayudarse los unos a los otros. Su meta es poder seguir creciendo y que de esa forma su familia pueda tener lo que necesitan para el día a día.
Ella solicita el crédito para la compra de balanceados para sus chanchos, ya que no quiere que les falte para su alimento. Ella agradece a la fundación y a Kiva por la ayuda que está recibiendo.

The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
