A loan of $1,300 helped a member to buy feed for pigs.

Virgen Del Pilar Group's story

The communal bank came about thanks to the promoting done in the member’s neighborhood. They were pleased with the program and decided to join together so that they could work together and help each other out.

Irene is the president of the group. She and her family have a small business, which is selling and raising pigs. She explains that it is thanks to this work that her family has been able to get ahead and help each other. Her goal is to continue growing so that her family can have what it needs day to day.

She is requesting the loan to buy commercial feed for her pigs because she doesn’t want them to lack for food. She is grateful to the Foundation and to Kiva for the help she is receiving.
