A loan of $400 helped to buy an industrial mixer and cake molds.

Luz Erika's story

Luz is a very enterprising young woman. She lives with her husband who works as a teacher at a school. Her two children who are 10 and 3 years old also live with her. She loves them very much and they are her reason to live.

Her house is located in the city of Nazca, a city noted for having one of our country’s most important tourist attractions, the Nazca Lines, which are huge drawings in the middle of an extensive field of arid land which according to some studies were used as some sort of calendar by the Nazca people. This city is also known for the kindness and generosity of its residents. Like all good Peruvians, Luz enjoys traditional dishes of our country very much and one of her favorite ones is the very delicious “Seco de Res.”

Day by day Luz rises with much enthusiasm for working in her business selling desserts. She spends about 10 hours daily in her business and can tend to up to 20 customers per day, especially children who are the ones that most buy her products. She believes that she does well in business because she has a lot of patience with the children and above all because she is very kind and prepares delicious desserts.

Luz is very grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks to the help they have given her she will be able to buy an industrial mixer and cake molds because she currently does not have these tools. With this improvement she will have adequate materials to make her desserts thus improving her income so she can continue striving daily toward her great dream: “To have a large pastry shop.”
