A loan of $1,150 helped to buy fowl, medicine, feed and to build a corral.

Alex Gerardo's story

Alex, 26, is a young man living with his parents in the city of Pisco, a city noted for having one of the most visited tourist attractions: the Ballestas Islands and the Paracas Candelabrum. It’s also a city whose main activity is fishing and agriculture.

Alex is a humble young man who with help from his parents and some friends managed to start a business of raising and selling chickens. At the beginning it was a bit difficult but gradually he started to get ahead. His business has been in operation for more than a year now and he’s able to contribute to his home through it and support his parents like they’ve supported him.

Alex is very grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks to the support they’ve given him he will be able to buy more fowl, nutritionally balanced feed and medicine, among others, that are needed in the first six weeks of their growth. He will also build a new corral for raising fowl that will make it possible for him to have them in good condition for sale and to improve his income so that he can continue striving toward reaching his great dream: “To give his parents a better quality of life and to complete his studies.”
