Martin M's Group's story

These are teachers of a vocational institute based in Kenema city. This institute was founded in 1993. Teachers of the institute have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva.org in Makeni, Northern Sierra Leone, to seek a loan. They requested a loan of 16,800,000 Sierra Leonean Leones (SLL) for the entire group. With the help of this loan, these teachers are in a better position to buy or invest in something that their mere salaries cannot let them do.

Martin is the leader of the group. He is age thirty-five. He was born in Bo. He is married and has two children attending primary school. Martin has been in the teaching profession for eight years now. He has requested this loan in order to buy house building materials – cement, sand, rods, iron corrugated zincs, etc. for the construction of a dwelling house for the family.
