A loan of $675 helped to buy spare parts for blenders.

Mónica Marlene's story

Mónica is a member of the Corazón de María [Heart of Maria] community bank. She lives in the Yanaturo area of the city of Cuenca. The city is known as a [UNESCO] World Heritage Site and it's the third most important city economically. The climate is cold, but its people are warm-hearted, friendly, and kind, and continue the culture and traditions of the region. Mónica is 20 years old and lives in a common law marriage. She has two sons; the oldest is 3 years and 5 months, and the second is 2 months old. Her husband is a shopkeeper who sells spare parts for blenders. They don't have their own home, but live with her mother in an independent way. At the moment Mónica doesn't work; she stays home to care for her children and do housework. This will be her second loan with the community bank, and she will invest it in her husband's business to buy spare parts for blenders. Her goal is to have her own home.
