A loan of $575 helped to purchase bags of maize and fish for use in preparing her kenkey for sale.

Florence's story

Florence cooks kenkey for sale. (Kenkey is fermented corn dough wrapped in corn or banana leaves.) She serves it with fried fish, pepper and tomato sauce at Enyinase, near Elmina. She is married and has six dependents. Her husband is a contractor. Florence has been into this business for five years now. She uses her income for the gerneral upkeep of their children. Florence will use her loan to purchase bags of maize and fish which she uses in preparing her kenkey for sale. She hopes to use the new profits from her expanded business to mount a better stall for the sale of her kenkey.
