Shamim's story

Shamim lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is married with three children--all her children are in school. She doesn’t take care of any additional family members. Shamim operates a beauty salon at the market. She has been in this business for the last two years. She works seven days a week. She has requested a loan of 600,000 from MCDT SACCO to buy boxes of cream relaxer, weaves and braids. Her major business challenges are thieves and the transportation of boxes from the city centre to her salon. Her goals and aspirations are to own a fully stocked salon and also to make enough profit to build her own house. She lives in a rented house and the family has access to electricity and piped water. Her monthly expenses include school fees, rent and food.
