A loan of $1,225 helped to buy more clothes for resale.

Owega's story

Owega is 44 years old and lives in the town of Arua in the Arua region of Uganda. He is married and has 4 children with 2 of them currently in school. For the past 3 years, Owega has been working hard to manage his small business, which sells clothes.

To help expand his business, Owega has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more clothes for resale, and will help Owega to generate greater profits and pay school fees for his children. Owega hopes that in the future he will be able to be independent.

Owega is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Owega who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
