Phat, 38, is married and resides with her husband and six children in Kandal Province, Cambodia. She and her husband have been involved in an agricultural business for over 20 years, have extensive experience and are successful in their careers. They grow rice and fish, earning approximately US $5 per day. Four of Phat's children are employed as construction and garment workers, earning about US $12 per day.
Due to the family's transportation difficulties, Phat is requesting a loan of US $1,200 to purchase a motorbike to commute. This purchase would enable Phat to use the saved money from her transportation expenses to support the family. In the future, she would like to purchase more farmland to expand her business and to help her children get bachelor’s degrees.
