A loan of $600 helped to buy cereals.

Daouda's story

Born around 1973 in Kolondièba, Daouda lives with his wife and 8 children in a traditional family environment in Fakola. Unable to attend school for social reasons, Daouda quickly became involved in revenue-generating activities, notably the buying and selling of cereals (millet, rice, fonio, corn, groundnuts, etc.). He is highly valued and sought out in Fakola and the surrounding neighbourhood.

With 3 years experience in his field and on the lookout for additional financial resources, Daouda decided to work with Soro Yiriwaso. He is now on the second loan, having correctly repaid the first. Daouda plans to use the money to buy 5 tonnes of corn and 1 tonne of fonio from the village farmers. He makes his sales, for cash and sometimes credit, in the Republic of the Ivory Coast and at the market of Fakola, to a diverse and varied retail clientele. Daouda hopes to make a monthly profit of 100 000 francs which he will use to provide for his family, repay the loan and reinvest in his business.
