A loan of $1,200 helped a member to buy pharmaceutical products.

Danaya Group's story

The members of the Danaya group are all married women, averaging 35 years of age and four children each. They live in extended traditional families in the town of Fana. They know each other through family, friendship, and neighborhood ties. They sell medications, cosmetic products, juice and charcoal.

After a long break, the women of the Danaya group have requested another loan and are on to their tenth solidarity loan. This new loan will be used to buy pharmaceutical products, groundnuts, cosmetic products, charcoal and juice.

Soumba is the first woman from the left in the sitting row. She is planning to buy four boxes of pharmaceutical products from pharmacies in Bamako. These pharmaceutical products will be used as first-aid supplies in her health center where she attends to her patients.

Soumba is expecting average monthly profits to reach 25,000 CFA francs, which will be used in part to take care of her family's needs, while the rest will be reinvested into purchasing pharmaceutical products.
