Sophany's story

Sophany, 44, is married and resides with her husband and three children in Takeo Province, Cambodia. She has been involved in breeding pigs for over four years, earning approximately USD 5 per day. Her husband is a rice farmer who earns about USD 8 per day. One of her children is employed as a team leader in a garment factory and earns about USD 6 per day. Due to difficulty with the family’s transportation, Sophany is requesting a loan of USD 1500 to purchase a motorbike for commuting. This purchase would enable her to use the money saved on her transportation expenses to support the family. In the future, she would like to build a new house and help her children get a Bachelor’s degree.
