El Salvador / Bakery

A loan of $1,100 helped to buy supplies for her bakery.

María Ángela's story

María Ángela, 56, lives in her own house with her beloved family. María works baking and selling bread. Her business is home-based and with much effort has managed to keep it in operation for many years. She’s been offering delicious types of bread like: pineapple jelly filled “semitas” [sweet loaves with a texture similar to that of Kaiser rolls], pastries, “salpores de arroz y almidón” [type of cookie similar to shortbread] to mention just a few of her specialties.

Many people prefer her because she’s a kind, hardworking, hygienic and very charismatic woman. She’s worked her entire life to support her family since they are the most important and what gives her the strength to carry on.

She’s decided to ask INTEGRAL for this loan to buy raw materials to make the delicious sweet bread she makes every morning. She will use the loan to buy flour, sugar, cinnamon, food coloring, milk, eggs, margarine and shortening. She does all this aiming at reaching higher sales and income levels leading to improved quality of life for her and her family.
