A loan of $375 helped to increase her inventory by buying oil, soft drinks, flour, rice, juices, etc.

Irene José's story

Irene José was born in the city of Maputo in the province of the same name in southern Mozambique. She is divorced and is the mother of seven children, one of whom is in school. The others are already adults. She studied through the third grade but stopped due to her parents' lack of financial resources. She lives in her own home with her family and also supports three of her grandchildren that live with her. She has had a business selling food for more than five years. She makes almost 6,000 meticals, which she puts towards her home's expenses. She also saves some in her bank account in the BIM bank. She has never had a loan with another bank. She became familiar with Hluvuku through a friend who is also a client of the institution. This is her second loan with Hluvuku in the amount of 10,000 meticals, which she will use to buy products to increase her quantity of merchandise (oil, soft drinks, flour, rice, juice, etc.). Her previous loan was for 5,000 meticals, which she put towards her business. She promises to make her payments on time. In the future, she wants to expand her business and improve her family's living conditions, for which she plans to request more loans from Hluvuku.
