A loan of $550 helped to buy beams, windows, glass, doors, cement, etc., to continue construction of her home.

Afrita Júlio's story

Afrita Julio was born in the district of Boane in the province of Maputo in southern Mozambique. She is a single mother of four chidren, two of whom are in school. The other two are already working. She studied through the sixth grade but stopped due to her parents' lack of financial resources. She lives in her own home with her family and also supports one granddaughter that lives with her.

She has worked as a bookbinder for Impressão Gráfica for more than 36 years. She has a salary of 8,600 meticals, which she puts towards her home's expenses. She also saves some in her bank account in the BIM bank.

She has had a loan with the Barclays bank and paid it back without any problems. She became familiar with Hluvuku through a friend who is also a client of the institution. This is her fourth loan with Hluvuku in the amount of 16,000 meticals. She will use it to buy construction materials for her home (beams, windows, glass, doors, cement, etc.). Her previous loans were for 15,000, 16,000, and 30,000, and all were applied to her home.

She promises to make her payments on time, and in the future, she wants to finish her home and furnish it. She is planning on requesting more loans from Hluvuku to do this.
