Roberta is from Gata Diot, Clarin, Misamis Occidental. She is forty-seven years old. Roberta is married and has two children. To make a living, Roberta raises crops, primarily bananas, for sale. Roberta has been in her business for six years and earns 4,000 PHP a month for these activities.
In 2007, Roberta joined GDMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and her ability to engage in business activities. Roberta is requesting a loan of 10,000 PHP which will be used to purchase pesticides. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
