A loan of $1,500 helped to buy a cable way to pull in the fruit that he produces.

Florentino's story

Señor Florentino is 59 years old. He lives in the township of Chimoré of the city of Cochabamba. He is married but his wife lives and works in Spain. His children are independent. He works as a farmer on his plantation. Señor Florentino produces bananas and other fruits. Florentino is known to be a very hardworking person. Since his children are now independent, Florentino feels lonely. Because of economic necessity, his wife was obliged to travel to Spain to be able to work, because he became ill with dengue and had to abandon his work. Florentino is applying for a loan because he needs money to purchase a cable way (a metal structure) which is used to pull in the fruit, since he no longer has the energy that he worked with years ago. This cable way will help him produce fruit in better condition and with greater efficiency. Since he is now in better health and his days are more peaceful alongside his relatives, he is working and is in condition to continue doing it for a long time, but with the wish that his wife can return soon.
