For the past 11 years, Angélica starts work early in the morning at her fish stand. She tells us that when the market opened she, like many others, decided to open a business. At the beginning she did not know what to sell, but her father, realizing that hardly anyone else was selling fish, recommended that she do that as she would not have any competition. And that is how she decided to sell fish.

Angélica is the mother of three children ages 28, 24 and 16 . They have always been her inspiration. Now that most of her children are adults, her hope is to see her son finish his studies and later on, open a business selling groceries. For this she counts on the support of her husband, who works as a laborer and who helps her at her stand on his days off.

Translated from Spanish by Molly Puglisi, Kiva volunteer.
