Los Lirios 1 Group's story

This group, Los Lirios 1, is composed of eight hardworking indigenous women who are natives of Pinotepa Nacional, Oaxaca: land of good people with the desire to improve themselves and achieve their dreams.

One of the members of this group is Paula, a hardworking and lovable woman of thirty-four years of age. She makes her living selling traditional Mexican snacks or "antojitos," such as soups, quesadillas, entomatadas, enchiladas, and chicken empanadas.

Paula, or "Pau," as she is better known by her group members, tells us that she has been selling Mexican antojitos for a year. What she likes most about her business is preparing the antojitos, having her orders on time, and giving her clients good service.

Pau is happily married to Cornelio Javier, who is forty years old. Pau tells us that she is very content with her business and her children. Ángel Javier is sixteen, Cornelio is sixteen, Paulo is twelve, Cristina is twelve, and Gustavo is seven.

Pau tells us that the foundation has changed her life. Before she used to take in washing and her back hurt a great deal, but thanks to the support of the foundation, she now has her own little business and makes a good living.

She requested this loan in order to buy more ingredients for the preparation of her antojitos, such as green chiles, dried chiles, tomatoes, onion, garlic, cheese, fresh cheese, and chicken.

She is very grateful to the foundation for improving the quality of life of people who want to improve themselves.

Bonfilia—who makes a living selling bread
