A loan of $1,325 helped to buy fruit.

Lina Leonor's story

Lina is a member of La Paz Communal Bank. She lives in the city of Cuenca, which has been a World Heritage Site since December 1999 because of the beauty of its historic center. It has great natural resources, and the people there preserve the culture and traditions of their communities.

Lina, 37, is married and has three children from this relationship, ages 15, 11, and 8. Her oldest child studies in high school and the two others in a school in the city. Her husband works as a private employee. They do not have their own house so they rent.

Lina works selling fruit, a job she has held for eight years. She works Monday through Saturday without a fixed schedule.

She has been with the communal bank for five years, and she is going to invest her new loan in buying fruit for her business.

Her dream is to have her own house.
