5 De Mayo Group's story

This group is called “The Fifth of May”. It is made up of five people who work sewing the finished edges on blankets. They live in a neighborhood called the “Ajilho” neighborhood.
Josefa was selected for this interview. She lives with Mr. Lucas, with whom she has had four children, who are her responsibility. She is asking for this loan in order to buy embroidery supplies in order to embroider blouses and shirts with borders. She has been doing this work for the past twenty-one years. The work is going well. With the income from this work she is able to help her family succeed.
She started this work in order to help her husband with the household expenses. Also it is the type of work that the women do in her community. What she would like to do is to grow her business each day in order to help her family and her husband.
They members of the group are: Lorenzo, who will use the loan to buy blankets, Reynaldo, who will use this loan to buy and sell folk art shirts and blouses, Lucas, who will buy folk crafts, and Manuel, who will make ponchos.
