A loan of $375 helped to buy merchandise (rice, sugar, noodles, and canned goods, among other things).

Melida Sandra's story

Melida, 33, lives with her 12-year-old son whom she loves very much and who, because of his age, is driving her to an early grave because he is very mischievous. Like a good Peruvian, she likes the traditional dishes of our country very much. One of her favorite dishes is the delicious "Seco de Res" [beef stew].

Her home is located in the city of Nazca, known for its warm climate. This city also was the site of one of the most important pre-Inca cultures in our country, the magnificent Nazca culture. They left as their legacy one of the most important tourist attractions in the country, the Nazca Lines, immense drawings in a vast desert. According to some studies, they served as an astronomical calendar for the Nazca culture.

Melida goes out every day to work with a lot of enthusiasm in her business selling groceries. She works at her business around 13 hours a day and serves up to 25 customers in a day. She believes that it is going well for her in her business because she is very friendly with the customers and very dedicated to her job.

Melida is very grateful to the Kiva lenders because thanks to the help they have given her she will be able to buy more merchandise for her business (rice, sugar, noodles, and canned goods, among other things). In this way she will have a greater variety of products to sell to her customers, which will allow her to have greater income and get ahead to make her biggest dream a reality: "To have her own house."
