Beatrice's story

Beatrice is 40 years old and lives in the town of Rukoki in the Fort portal region of Uganda. She is widowed and has 3 children. For the past 5 years, Beatrice has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells sugar and soap.

To help expand her business, Beatrice has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more essential commodities and will help Beatrice to generate greater profits and increase her stock. Beatrice hopes that, in the future, she will be able to expand her business and get increased profit.

Beatrice is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Beatrice who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
