Ruth's story

Ruth lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is single with 4 children and all her children are in school. She doesn’t take care of additional family members. She sells cassava at the market on a retail basis. She has been in this business for the last 4 years. She works seven days a week. She has requested a loan of 300,000 from MCDT SACCO to buy bags of cassava. Her major business challenges are seasonality and thieves. Her goals and aspirations are to buy a plot of land to start growing cassava. She lives in her own house but the family has no access to electricity and piped water. Her major monthly expenses include food and school fees.
